It is rolled at Tabacos de Costa Rica in Santiago de Puriscal. Previewed at the 2022 PCA trade show, it began shipping in late September 2022 as the first Alfonso line in the United States; many US retailers call it Alfonso Extra Añejo. Nelson Alfonso has described it as a hybrid of his Atabey and Byron lines. The first US release came from 2017 production: five years of rest in cedar rooms, then a final stage in rooms lined with French oak. “Cedar is to cigars as oak is to wine,” he has said.

Selected Tobacco packs the Añejos tubes three to a carton, each carton printed with its size number and the maker's series name, “Producción Limitada.”

The No. 6 is the longest Añejos, a 9 x 50 double corona.

Size: 9 x 50 Double Corona

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut

Binder: Ecuadorian Connecticut

Filler: Peruvian and Nicaraguan ligero

Origin: Tabacos de Costa Rica, Santiago de Puriscal, Costa Rica

Packing: Three tubes to a carton; sold by the carton

Offered by the three-pack: one carton of three tubes.

No. 6 Double Corona Tubes FAQ

What does Alfonso Añejos taste like? Selected Tobacco has not published tasting notes we could confirm; Nelson Alfonso has said he leaves his blends to the smoker's imagination.
