Byron was founded in Havana in 1850, as the packaging reads, and named for the English poet Lord Byron, an avid cigar smoker; Cigar Aficionado traces it to Alfonso's own ancestors, and Byron says the family recovered the name in 1998. Byron says its cigars rest for years after rolling, against the roughly 60 days it calls typical. Cigar Coop describes the 19th, 20th and 21st Century lines as one for each century the brand was active, each paying homage to that century's Cuban cigars; this is the Serie Siglo XX.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCigar Aficionado's 2023 ratings list an Ecuadorian wrapper and a Peruvian binder over Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler, as our distributor does.
