Newman Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge in Yuma, Arizona.

Davidoff launched the Aniversario line in 1986 to celebrate Zino Davidoff's 80th birthday, and it belongs to the brand's White Band Collection. Davidoff says the Special R takes its name from being a little shorter than most robustos; in the tube it travels well. The Connecticut Shade wrapper covers a Dominican binder and Dominican filler, and Davidoff times it at 45 to 60 minutes.

Size: 4⅞ x 50

Shape: Robusto

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican

Origin: Dominican Republic

Strength: Intensity 2.5 of 5, body 3 of 5 (maker's rating)

Packaging: Single, 5-pack or box of 20, each cigar in its own tube

Tasting notes

Davidoff lists cedar, cream, roasted nuts and walnut for the Aniversario blend, lifted by herbs, citrus and fresh spice.
