Newman Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge in Yuma, Arizona.

Davidoff first made a Maduro from 2008 to 2016, then brought the name back in April 2024 with a new blend, a new look and limited production. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Corte #7 leaf, a higher priming that grows near the top of the plant and takes more sun. Davidoff fermented it for 16 months, about twice its usual cycle, without added heat, then aged it in bales for two more years. It covers a Mexican binder and Dominican filler. The line comes in three sizes, Short Corona, Robusto and Toro, each in boxes of 20. The Robusto sits between the Short Corona and the Toro at 5 x 50, about 45 minutes to an hour by Davidoff's timing.

Size: 5 x 50

Shape: Robusto

Wrapper: Ecuadorian maduro, Corte #7

Binder: Mexican

Filler: Dominican

Origin: Dominican Republic, Cigars Davidoff

Strength: Intensity 3 of 5, body 4.5 of 5 (maker's rating)

Packaging: Single, 5-pack or box of 20

Tasting notes

Davidoff lists dark chocolate, dried fruit, nuts, honey, cream, oak wood, earth and white pepper for the Robusto.
