As it matures in cask the wine loses its deep ruby color and takes on the amber hue known as tawny.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFonseca describes a deep amber color with russet highlights and a bouquet that is a complex marriage of ripe, plummy, mature fruit, warm spicy overtones of cinnamon and butterscotch and subtle oak nuances.
