The El Septimo France Bordeaux is a 6 by 60 gordo from the Culinary Art Collection. Two of its five filler leaves from the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Brazil are aged in Bordeaux wine barrels, then rolled over a 2004 Ecuadorian Habano binder. The result is layered and vinous, with spice evident at the start, cedar and aged tobacco through the middle and a return of spice on the final draws.
Built from five-year-old tobacco, it burns evenly and consistently through a long session. At Sun of a Gun it pairs with a claret, a cognac or a Bordeaux-cask whisky, and holds its own beside a dark rum. Offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 20.
