Tasting Notes

Nose
toasty French oak, caramel, baking spice
Palate
mildly sweet, rich vanilla, baking spice
Finish
velvety, subtle, long

Maker's Mark 46 Bourbon starts as fully matured Maker's Mark, the distillery's wheated Kentucky straight bourbon whisky, which is then finished with ten seared French oak staves set inside the barrel and rested in a limestone cellar. It is bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV).

Created by Bill Samuels Jr., it was the first major new expression since the original Maker's Mark, and it takes its name from Stave Profile No. 46 from the Independent Stave Company. Toasty French oak, caramel and baking spice rise on the nose. The palate is mildly sweet, with rich vanilla and more baking spice, and the finish is velvety, subtle and long.

At Sun of a Gun Cigars & Spirits in Yuma, Arizona, we pour it by the glass as a single or a double, with bottles to go (750 mL). Our shelf changes as bottles are poured and new ones arrive, so call 928-276-3500 to confirm availability, and ask our team for a cigar from the walk-in humidor to pair with it.
