About Maduro Cigars

What maduro means

Maduro is a process, not a plant. The leaf is fermented longer and at higher temperature, which converts starches to sugars and turns the wrapper dark. The result is sweeter, not necessarily stronger — a common misunderstanding.

Where to start

The Padrón 1964 Maduro is the benchmark. Liga Privada No. 9 is the full-bodied Connecticut Broadleaf. Arturo Fuente Añejo is maduro aged in cognac barrels, and allocated. Camacho Triple Maduro uses maduro tobacco in all three parts of the cigar.
