Asylum is the big-ring brand of Tom Lazuka and Christian Eiroa, whom Cigar Aficionado names as partners, and it is sold through Eiroa's CLE Cigar Co. Cigar Journal traces the idea to Lazuka, with the two touring Florida with the first cigars in July 2012. The original Asylum 13 was a Nicaraguan puro under a Habano wrapper; recent Asylum releases are made at the CLE factory in Honduras, according to halfwheel.

About Asylum Cigars
The Ogre arrived in late 2012 as a 7 x 70 barber pole, a Candela leaf twisted with a Habano maduro leaf over Nicaraguan binder and filler, as Cigar Coop described it. A 6 x 80 followed in 2014 and an 8 x 80 in 2015, which Cigar Aficionado covered as part of the push toward ultra-thick sizes. Since 2023 the 6 x 80, 7 x 70 and 8 x 80 sizes have been packed 20 to a box, halfwheel reported.
Asylum 13 Connecticut followed in February 2016: an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper over Honduran tobaccos, rolled in Danlí, Honduras, per Cigar Aficionado. Lazuka told Cigar Coop the aim was to blend something lighter into the portfolio.
Two Asylum blends are flavored. Cool Brew, introduced at the 2023 PCA show, is described by CLE as the second Asylum blend to carry aromatic flavors through exotic tobaccos; Cigar Coop tasted mocha, mint and cream and rated it medium. Split Personality, shipped in June 2025, is a banana-flavored Honduran puro, a nod to the banana split, with banana, caramel and almond in CLE's description; halfwheel found the strength mild.
