Sun of a Gun Cigars & Spirits is a whiskey bar and craft cocktail bar at 1651 S Arizona Ave in Yuma, Arizona: a 300-bottle spirits menu, more than 170 of them whiskey, and handcrafted cocktails made with house-made organic syrups and cordials. It is Yuma's premier craft cocktail bar, an espresso martini bar, an Old Fashioned lounge and a charcuterie destination, open from 9 AM every day, until 11 PM Sunday through Thursday and 1 AM on Friday and Saturday. No membership, no dress code.

The whiskey list

The back bar holds a 300-bottle spirits menu, more than 170 of them whiskey. Single malt runs from Ardbeg, Lagavulin 16 and Balvenie to Macallan 18 Sherry Oak, Glenfarclas 25, Dalmore King Alexander III and Glenfiddich 30 Year. Bourbon and rye include Buffalo Trace, Blanton's Single Barrel, E.H. Taylor Small Batch, Eagle Rare 10 Year, Stagg Jr, Booker's and Whistlepig 12 Year Old World. Irish whiskey covers Bushmills from 10 to 25 Year and Redbreast 12 and 15; Japanese whisky includes Hibiki Harmony and Yamazaki 12 Year. Tequila, mezcal, rum, cognac, gin and vodka fill out the rest.

Craft cocktails

Every cocktail is handcrafted with syrups and cordials made in-house and sweetened only with organic ingredients. The craft cocktail menu is arranged in four chapters:

• Signature Affairs — the espresso cocktails, Lychee Dream, Noble Nectar, Glamour & Temptation and Sangria Royale, poured on draft with a nitro finish.
• Classic Favorites — Negroni Di Lusso, a Sazerac of cognac and rye, Madison Ave, The Bitter Gentleman and The Black Tie.
• Tropical Temptations — Forbidden Tides with house-made organic orgeat, Midnight in Havana, Spiced Hibiscus Bliss and Tamarind Temptress.
• Polished Punches — Smoke & Silk, Sour Symphony, Golden Hour, The Shanghai Kiss and The Wheeler.

Espresso martinis

The Velvet Voice is the house espresso martini: espresso and vodka, poured for those who never call it a night. From there the espresso list widens. The Sicilian Whisper adds pistachio to vodka and espresso. El Cubano pairs aged tequila with fresh espresso. Cafe Luxe is fresh espresso and Licor 43 served over ice, and Sabor a Mi shakes tequila with espresso and citrus.

Old Fashioneds

Cask & Ember is our Old Fashioned: Buffalo Trace bourbon stirred slow with bitters, an orange twist and dark maraschino. Bourbon Revival takes the same bourbon toward coffee liqueur and bitters, finished with a fire-kissed orange. On the cigar and spirits pairing menu, Cask & Ember is matched with the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series.

Wine and port

Wine is poured by the glass and by the bottle: Cabernet Sauvignon from Caymus, Silver Oak and Duckhorn, Chardonnay from Cakebread, Champagne from Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon, and tawny port to finish. See the wine and port menu.

Charcuterie boards of fine cheeses, cured meats and accompaniments come in small and large, made for sharing. They are also served alongside whiskey flights.

The setting

The bar sits inside an official J.C. Newman Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge, beside the walk-in humidor of the sole authentic cigar tobacconist in Yuma.
