The Padrón story, from Miami to Estelí

José Orlando Padrón founded the company in Miami in 1964, and the family still keeps every step in its own hands: Nicaraguan tobacco from its own farms, rolled at the family's factory in Estelí. The box-pressed 1964 Anniversary Series arrived in 1994 for the company's 30th year; the 1926 Serie followed in 2002, named for José Orlando Padrón's birth year and released for his 75th birthday. Opus X, the first Dominican puro

In 1992 Carlito Fuente's "Project X" produced the first Dominican puro, from wrapper grown at Chateau de la Fuente in Bonao; Fuente Fuente OpusX reached the market in November 1995 and is still allocated to authorized retailers in small batches.
