Arturo Fuente calls Gran Reserva the flagship of the Arturo Fuente brand, and says only the highest quality vintage tobaccos and hand workmanship go into its cigars. Fuente's own list runs to nine sizes, from the 4½ x 50 Rothschild to the 8½ x 52 Cañones, and the wrapper choices vary by size; the Flor Fina 8-5-8 comes in the most, five. We carry fifteen Gran Reserva cigars: the Rothschild in two wrappers, the Flor Fina 8-5-8 in five, the Spanish Lonsdale Maduro, the Corona Imperial D'Oro, the Selección Privada No. 1 Natural, the Churchill in three and the Cañones in two.

About Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva
Fuente created the Flor Fina 8-5-8 in 1975 in memory of founder Arturo Fuente, who died in 1973 at the age of 85. The company began in West Tampa in 1912, and in 1980 the family opened its factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic; Cigar Aficionado's 2024 tour of Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. names Gran Reserva among the cigars rolled there. In the Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Insider ratings in the table below, the binder and filler are Dominican; the Natural wears Cameroon on the Rothschild, the 8-5-8 and the Churchill, and the Maduro wears Connecticut Broadleaf. Fuente offers a D'Oro wrapper on three sizes, the Corona Imperial, the Selección Privada No. 1 and the Churchill.

Fuente lists every Gran Reserva size at 25 per box except the Cañones, at 20. The 8-5-8 Rosado Sun Grown comes in boxes of 20, as it did when Fuente brought it back in 2018. Every size is sold as a single, a 5-pack or a box. Fuente gives the 8-5-8 as 6 x 47; Cigar Aficionado has also listed it at 6¼ x 47. Fuente lists a 4½ x 33 mini, the size of our Exquisitos, with its medium-filler cigars rather than in the series, and says it is made from the same traditional Gran Reserva blend.

What to pour with Gran Reserva
We found no pairing from Fuente for Gran Reserva, so these are our house suggestions, drawn from our pairing guides:
- Candela and Rothschild Natural (both rated mild by Cigar Aficionado): a smooth Irish whiskey or a glass of Champagne
- Flor Fina 8-5-8 Natural (mild to medium) and Churchill Natural (medium in 2017): a smooth Irish whiskey or a 90-proof wheated bourbon
- Flor Fina 8-5-8 Sun Grown (medium to full in 2019) and Selección Privada No. 1 Natural (medium to full in 2024): a bourbon with more rye in the mash bill
- Any Maduro, including the Churchill Maduro and the Spanish Lonsdale Maduro: a sherry-cask Scotch such as the Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak, or an aged rum

Common questions
What is Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva? The series Fuente calls the flagship of the Arturo Fuente brand. Fuente lists nine sizes, from the Rothschild to the Cañones, including the Flor Fina 8-5-8 and the Churchill, all made in the Dominican Republic.
What is the story behind the 8-5-8? Fuente says it created the Flor Fina 8-5-8 in 1975 in memory of founder Arturo Fuente, who died in 1973 at the age of 85.
What is Fuente's D'Oro? A wrapper option Fuente lists on three Gran Reserva sizes: the Corona Imperial, the Selección Privada No. 1 and the Churchill. Cigar Aficionado's August 2026 rating of the Selección Privada No. 1 D'Oro lists a Connecticut Shade wrapper.
Which Gran Reserva is the mildest? Of the sizes we carry that Cigar Aficionado has rated, its most recent ratings put the Candela (which the magazine lists as the 8-5-8 Claro, October 2022) and the Rothschild Natural (December 2009) at mild.
Are Exquisitos part of Gran Reserva? No. They are not on Fuente's Gran Reserva list. Fuente's medium-filler page lists a 4½ x 33 mini, the Exquisitos size, made from the same traditional Gran Reserva blend, and Fuente's letter announcing its February 2016 price increase, reported by halfwheel, named Exquisitos separately from Gran Reserva.
Has a Gran Reserva made Cigar Aficionado's Top 25? We found no Gran Reserva size on the magazine's Top 25 lists from 2004 to 2025. The Spanish Lonsdale Maduro was one of its Best Buys of 2022 and 2025, and the 8-5-8 Sun Grown scored 92 in December 2011 and was listed among its best bargain cigars of 2011.
How much is Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva? Current prices for every size are in the price table above.
Can I buy a single? Yes. Every size is sold as a single, a 5-pack or a box. $9.99 flat shipping, free on orders of $125 or more.
