We pour Garrison Brothers, a Texas bourbon, at the lounge, beside Kentucky bottles such as Stagg Jr, Booker's and Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. Our house suggestion: a barrel-proof bourbon wants a full cigar with the weight to match it, such as the Padrón 1926 Serie No. 9 in Maduro or a Liga Privada No. 9; a softer pour sits well beside a medium cigar like the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Exclusivo. Gulf Coast humidity, West Texas air

Houston and the Gulf Coast run humid much of the year, while West Texas can be dry. Either way, keep cigars sealed with their Boveda pack, out of a hot car and away from direct sun; Boveda calls its 69% pack the most universal choice for wood and acrylic humidors.

When your cigars arrive

Move them into a humidor, or keep them sealed with the Boveda pack they came with, out of heat and sunlight. Boveda advises keeping cigars between 65% and 72% relative humidity.
