The small sizes
Davidoff added the Petit Panetela and the Belicoso to the line in July 2015, replacing the earlier Lancaster and Spitfire tins. The Original Series Petit Panetela, also known as The Raconteur, has its own blend: an Ecuador Habano wrapper over a Peruvian Pelo de Oro binder, with Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. The Late Hour Petit Panetela was first a limited run for markets outside the U.S. in 2020 and became a regular-production cigar in January 2024; Davidoff puts its smoking time at 15 to 20 minutes, and halfwheel scored it 92. The Late Hour Series gained its own Belicoso in January 2026.
Choosing a Winston Churchill
- The Original Series, under the Ecuadorian Rojiza wrapper: the Robusto, Toro or the 6⅞ x 47 Churchill.
- The Late Hour Series, under the darker Habano Oscuro wrapper: the Robusto (intensity 4 of 5) or the Toro (4.5 of 5).
- A short smoke: the Petit Panetela and Late Hour Petit Panetela tins of 5, or the Belicoso tin of 4. More small formats are on cigar tins and cigarillos.
For a long smoke in the classic shape, see Churchill cigars.
What to pour with a Winston Churchill
House suggestions from our bar: a Speyside single malt Scotch with The Late Hour, whose filler leaf rests in Speyside Scotch barrels, and a bourbon with The Original Series. Our Scotch and cigar pairing guide goes further.
