Deadwood Sweet Jane

Sweet Jane is where Deadwood started. Drew Estate calls the 5 x 46 Corona "the original size in the Deadwood Tobacco Co. line," which began as shop-exclusive cigars for Deadwood Tobacco, a retailer in Deadwood, South Dakota. In July 2016 Drew Estate announced it would take Sweet Jane national with Fat Bottom Betty and Crazy Alice, packed 24 to a box.

About Deadwood Sweet Jane

The wrapper is Maduro, over tobaccos Drew Estate calls aromatic and exotic; it lists the binder and filler as undisclosed and the body as mellow, and sums up the taste as "sweet and delightful; coffee, cedar, chocolate." Cigar Coop scored the 5 x 46 85 points in April 2020, rated it mild to medium in strength, and wrote that the cold draw reminded its reviewer of Equal sweetener. Drew Estate makes Deadwood at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Two smaller and rarer Sweet Janes sit beside the Corona. Baby Jane is Drew Estate's 4 x 32 Sweet Jane tin of 10, shown at the 2018 IPCPR trade show and shipped that November. Día de los Muertos is a limited, box-pressed 6 x 50 Sweet Jane in boxes of 20: it came out in 2019 as an exclusive for Drew Estate lounges, limited to 1,000 boxes, returned in 2024 as a limited release for all Drew Estate retailers, then again as a limited release in 2025. Drew Estate describes it as full-bodied; halfwheel's review of the 2024 edition found the strength mild, rising to medium in the final third, and noted a very sweetened cap.

What to pour with Sweet Jane

Drew Estate suggests an iced chai tea or a spiced rum. From our bar: our lounge pairing menu sets Deadwood beside rum, so try one of our rums; with a Baby Jane, a cappuccino is enough. More in the flavored and infused cigar guide.
