My Father La Gran Oferta Lancero takes its name, the great offering, and its artwork from a vintage cigar brand of 1913. An especially oily Ecuadorian Habano rosado wrapper covers Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and Habano and Criollo fillers grown on the García family farms. Rolled in Nicaragua at 7 1/2 inches by 38, it is medium to three-quarter bodied with a more subdued, classic profile than its siblings and a slight sweetness.
The lancero is the format that shows the wrapper most clearly, and this one is a graceful hour for anyone who prefers refinement over force. At the Sun of a Gun bar it pairs with a rye, a Speyside Scotch or an espresso. Offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 20.
