The El Septimo Yao Maduro is a 6½ by 60 torpedo from the Emperor Collection, named for the Chinese emperor whose inscription adorns the band. A dark, oily maduro wrapper covers an Ecuadorian Habano binder and a four-leaf filler from Nicaragua, Honduras, the Dominican Republic and Ecuador. Medium-bodied and rich, it leans on espresso and dark cocoa.
The maker suggests it alongside a cognac, and at Sun of a Gun it also sits well with a dark rum or an espresso. Approachable enough for newer smokers, substantial enough for veterans. Offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 20.
