How the Family Reserve numbers work
halfwheel reports that the Family Reserve line began in 2008 and that its numbers first counted Padrón's years in business. The No. 85, released in October 2011, was planned as the No. 47 but was named instead for José O. Padrón's 85th birthday. The No. 95 and No. 96 honor what would have been his 95th and 96th. Every size, all made from tobacco Padrón ages ten years, is on Padrón Family Reserve, and the line is explained in our Family Reserve guide.
The two perfectos
Cigar Aficionado calls the 60th Anniversary only the second perfecto in Padrón's history. The first was the 1926 Serie 80 Years, added in 2007, which is box-pressed; the 60th is round, with a more pronounced taper toward the foot.
Same size, different occasion
