Ardbeg 17 Year Scotch Whisky first appeared in 1997, and Ardbeg regards it as the peaty pioneer that opened the way for the Ardbegs that followed. It is a seventeen-year-old Islay single malt from Ardbeg Distillery.

Matured in bourbon casks, it opens on pine resin, aniseed, sea spray, lavender and flinty minerality over sweet peat smoke. The palate is creamy, with aniseed toffee, café latte and fennel, and the peat smoke stays restrained. Chewy oak, cocoa powder and a trace of tar linger on the finish.
