Balvenie 12 Year DoubleWood Scotch Whisky
Balvenie 12 Year DoubleWood Scotch Whisky takes its name from its two-cask maturation. The twelve-year-old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie Distillery is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof).
The spirit rests first in American oak, then moves for a further nine months into European oak sherry casks. DoubleWood, a cask-finished malt, was introduced in the early 1990s.
Chocolate, raspberry, brioche and stewed cherries open the nose. Cherry, sponge cake, cinnamon, black pepper, vanilla and honey follow on the palate, with sweet spice, red fruit and sponge cake on the finish.
