Decoy California Merlot is a California Merlot from Decoy, the label established more than 30 years ago by vintners Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. It was first made in the 2008 vintage. The 2023 release is 100% Merlot, drawn from Sonoma County, Mendocino County, Alameda, Amador County and Napa Valley, and aged 8 months with 30% new French oak.

For the 2023 vintage, the winery describes vibrant aromas of fresh black cherry, ripe boysenberry, leather, black olive, peppercorn and sweet baking spices. On the palate, opulent fruit and silky tannins are balanced by bright red fruit and toasty oak that carry through to a long, cherry-spice finish.
