Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot
Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot is the Napa Valley Merlot that Dan Duckhorn first produced in 1978 after a visit to Bordeaux. The winery draws on estate vineyards and top sites across the valley's appellations and blends the Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon for depth and structure. The current 2023 release was aged 15 months in French oak, 40% of it new.
For the 2023 vintage, the winemaker describes aromas of red currant, raspberry, black plum and baking spices, accented by rhubarb crumble, cardamom and milk chocolate. The palate is silky, with fine-grained tannins carrying plum, cherry and cocoa powder to a bright, elegant finish.
