Fortaleza Reposado Tequila
Fortaleza Reposado Tequila is made by Guillermo Erickson Sauza, of the Sauza tequila family, at La Fortaleza in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco. It is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave, rested in used ex-bourbon American white oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The process is traditional: the agave is cooked in masonry ovens and crushed by tahona, fermented open-air in wooden tanks, then double-distilled in copper pot stills. Cooked agave, vanilla, citrus peel and light oak lead the nose. Sweet agave, caramel, baking spice and roasted nuts follow, and the finish is clean, with lingering oak, pepper and agave.
At Sun of a Gun Cigars & Spirits in Yuma, Arizona, we pour it by the glass as a single or a double. Our shelf changes as bottles are poured and new ones arrive, so call 928-276-3500 to confirm availability, and ask our team for a cigar from the walk-in humidor to pair with it.
