Jaime Garcia Sucesor Torpedo is the 2024 limited edition of the Reserva Especial line, its name meaning successor. This is the Habano blend: a Nicaraguan puro under a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, box-pressed at 6 1/8 inches by 52 and released in August 2024 in a run of 5,000 boxes of 14. It opens medium with toasted cedar, earth and black pepper, then builds toward full with cream, walnut, red currant, cinnamon, dark chocolate and citrus.
A limited torpedo with this much movement deserves a slow evening in the lounge. At the Sun of a Gun bar it pairs with a bourbon, a rye or a sherried Scotch, and it holds its own with espresso. Offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 14 while the release lasts.
