Lagavulin 16 Year Scotch Whisky is an Islay single malt from the island's south, where whisky has been made at Lagavulin since 1816. The barley is malted over local peat smoke, and the spirit is aged 16 years in oak casks before bottling at 43% ABV (86 proof).

The distillery marked its 200th anniversary in 2016. In the glass, intense peat smoke opens with iodine, seaweed and a deep, rich sweetness. Dry smoke and sea salt carry the palate alongside a gentle sweetness and touches of wood, leading to a long, elegant finish of peat, salt and seaweed.
