My Father La Promesa Lancero carries the name of the promise José 'Pepín' García made to his family before leaving Cuba. An Ecuadorian Habano rosado oscuro wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and filler, rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua. At 7 1/2 inches by 38 the lancero is wrapper-driven and medium to full in body, with an underlying pepper note beside oak, leather and chocolate that softens with a little age.
Lanceros reward patience and a light touch, and this one is a favorite of the Sun of a Gun regulars who like a slim, elegant format. It pairs with a rye, a bourbon or a Highland Scotch from the bar, or with a short espresso. Offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 20.
