The Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Diplomatico is the Churchill of the series: a 7 x 50 box-press, and the longest 1964 size after the rarely seen "A." Cigar Aficionado ranked the Diplomatico Maduro No. 4 on its Top 25 for 2013, at 94 points.

Padrón launched the 1964 Anniversary Series in 1994 to mark the company's 30th anniversary; 1964 is the year José O. Padrón opened Padrón Cigars in Miami. Every size is box-pressed in the Cuban tradition and built from Nicaraguan tobacco aged four years, in sun-grown Natural or Maduro.

Tasting notes

Cigar Aficionado's 91-point review of the Diplomatico likened the long, pressed Churchill to a chocolate bar in look and taste, with chocolate and nut flavors over a lush, even draw and burn.

In Maduro, the magazine's Top 25 panel found nuts and toast over a perfect draw, closing sweet with a touch of raisin. A later 93-point Maduro review traced coffee from roasted arabica to dark espresso, with dried cherry, caramel and molasses.
