Plasencia Alma del Campo Madroño Gordo is the 6½ x 58 gordo in Plasencia's Alma del Campo line. Plasencia calls it smooth, with coffee, cream, nuts and spice, plus rich chocolate, toasted nuts and sweet wood.
Alma del Campo, “soul of the country,” is the second line of Plasencia's Alma series. It was shown at the 2017 IPCPR trade show and shipped that August, halfwheel reported. Plasencia says every leaf comes from the sandy red soil of the Jalapa Valley, grown from Cuban Habano seed for the family alone, and that the line honors Finca La Limonera, where Don Sixto II Plasencia Pérez planted Habano seed after the family left Cuba. It is rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí and packed 10 to a box whose lid doubles as an ashtray.
The Madroño is the 6½ x 58 gordo, the largest size in the line and one of the 2017 launch sizes. halfwheel scored it 87; its reviewer found it mild-medium at first, building to medium.
