Plasencia Alma del Fuego Concepción Toro is the 6 x 54 toro in Plasencia's Alma del Fuego line. Plasencia calls it intense, lists tangerine, cashew, spice and guava wood, and aims it at intermediate and experienced smokers.
Alma del Fuego, “soul of the fire,” is the third line of Plasencia's Alma series, shown at the 2019 IPCPR trade show and released that July, halfwheel reported. It honors the volcanic soil of Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua, where Plasencia says fourth-generation Don Néstor Plasencia began growing cigar tobacco in 1996. About 75% of the tobacco is from Ometepe, halfwheel reported, under a sun-grown Jalapa wrapper, and Cigar Aficionado says the Ometepe leaf was aged seven years. It is rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A. and packed 10 to a box whose lid doubles as an ashtray.
The Concepción is the 6 x 54 toro. Cigar Aficionado scored it 93 points and ranked it No. 13 on its Top 25 cigars of 2019, describing a spicy, woody smoke with coffee bean, dried fruit and clove and a nutty, sweet finish. Cigar Coop put it at No. 17 in its 2021 Cigar of the Year countdown, and Plasencia chose it for its Colección Explorador sampler.
