Plasencia Cosecha 151 La Tradición Toro is the 5⅞ x 54 toro in Plasencia's Cosecha 151 line. Plasencia calls it bold and full-bodied, with chocolate, pecans, espresso and prunes: roasted Arabica coffee and dark chocolate, finishing with cinnamon and oak.
Cosecha means harvest, and Cosecha 151 is named for the Plasencia family's 151st harvest since 1865: the 2016 crop by halfwheel's account, or the 2016–2017 crops by Plasencia's. It is a Honduran puro, mostly Criollo '98, rolled at Tabacos de Oriente in Danlí, and Plasencia says it comes from the heavier soils of the Jamastrán Valley. Néstor Andrés Plasencia told halfwheel the wrapper is the same as Cosecha 149's, from a lower priming. The line debuted at the 2023 PCA trade show and reached stores in November 2023.
The La Tradición is the 5⅞ x 54 toro. Cigar Journal named it Cigar of the Year for 2024, No. 1 on its list of the top 25 new cigars, noting roasted brioche, dark chocolate, black pepper and toffee.
