Sazerac Rye Whiskey
Sazerac Rye Whiskey is a straight rye distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and bottled at 90 proof. Its name is tied to the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street in New Orleans, where the whiskey was served with Peychaud's Bitters.
The brand calls it the whiskey of the Sazerac, which it names America's first cocktail. Clove, vanilla, anise and pepper shape the nose, candied spice and citrus follow on the palate, and the finish is smooth, with a touch of licorice.
At Sun of a Gun Cigars & Spirits in Yuma, Arizona, we pour it by the glass as a single or a double, with bottles to go (750 mL). Our shelf changes as bottles are poured and new ones arrive, so call 928-276-3500 to confirm availability, and ask our team for a cigar from the walk-in humidor to pair with it.
