Macanudo Inspirado: White, Orange, Black and Red Explained

Macanudo Inspirado White, Orange, Black and Red explained: the bolder side of Macanudo, and how each blend compares to the classic Café.

Macanudo Inspirado is the bolder side of Macanudo: a family of blends built for smokers who want more depth than the classic Café. Each color is a distinct blend with its own wrapper, binder and filler. This guide covers the White, Orange, Black and Red.

The Story Behind Macanudo Inspirado

Macanudo made its name with the Café, a mellow cigar under a Connecticut Shade wrapper that Macanudo describes as approachable for beginners and rewarding for aficionados.

Inspirado was built to go further. The first release, Inspirado Orange, started as a European exclusive in 2014, and the line has since grown to include White, Black, Red and several newer blends.

Macanudo Inspirado Cigars Product Lines

Macanudo Inspirado White

Inspirado White is the gentlest way into the family: a golden Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, aged six years, over an Indonesian binder and Nicaraguan Estelí, Nicaraguan Jalapa and Mexican San Andrés filler. Macanudo rates it mellow to medium, with cream, spice and cedar. Sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Tubo, Toro (6½ x 50), Churchill (7 x 48) and Gigante (6 x 60).

Macanudo Inspirado Black

Inspirado Black wears a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan Estelí filler. Macanudo lists it as medium-bodied, with mocha, spice and nuts. Sizes: Robusto (4⅞ x 50), Tubo, Toro (5½ x 54) and Churchill (7 x 48).

Macanudo Inspirado Orange

Inspirado Orange, the first in the line, is handcrafted in Honduras: a Honduran wrapper and binder over Dominican, Honduran and Nicaraguan filler. It is medium-bodied, creamy and nutty with subtle spice. Sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Tubo, Toro (5¾ x 52), Gigante (6 x 60) and Churchill (7 x 50).

Macanudo Inspirado Red

Inspirado Red is the fullest of these four: an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan Jalapa binder, with Honduran Jamastran, Nicaraguan Estelí and Nicaraguan Ometepe filler that Macanudo says is aged twelve, ten and five years. Medium to full, with dark fruit, black pepper and leather. Sizes: box-pressed Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 50) and Gigante (6 x 60).

Macanudo Inspirado FAQ

What is Macanudo Inspirado?

Macanudo Inspirado is the bolder family of Macanudo blends. Where the classic Café is mellow, Inspirado runs from the mellow-to-medium White to the medium-to-full Red, each with its own wrapper, binder and filler.

What is the difference between Macanudo Inspirado White, Black, and Orange?

White uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper for a mellow-to-medium, creamy smoke with spice and cedar. Orange uses a Honduran wrapper for a medium-bodied, creamy, nutty smoke with subtle spice. Black uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper for a medium-bodied smoke with mocha, spice and nuts. Each color is a distinct wrapper, blend and profile.

How does Macanudo Inspirado compare to classic Macanudo?

Classic Macanudo Café is mellow and approachable. Inspirado was created for smokers who want more depth while staying with Macanudo: White stays close to the Café's creaminess, while Orange, Black and Red add more body and spice.
