Macanudo calls Café "the cigar that started it all." It is the brand's hand-crafted, mellow blend: a Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés binder, with a filler of Mexican and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobacco. Macanudo lists its flavors as sweetness, cream, nuts and wood, and describes the mellow profile as approachable for beginners.

About Macanudo Café
Cigar Aficionado reported in 2018 that General Cigar bought Jamaica's Temple Hall factory and the Macanudo brand in 1968 and released its redesigned blend in the United States in 1971. Macanudo moved production to Santiago, Dominican Republic, in 2000, and Cigar Aficionado lists the maker as General Cigar Dominicana. The Hyde Park was No. 23 on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 for 2005, at 90 points, and it is the only Café on the magazine's Top 25 lists since 2004.

What to pour with Macanudo Café
Macanudo pairs Café with coffee or a dark brown ale. If you would rather pour a spirit, our house rule is mild with mild: our pairing guide sets a smooth Irish whiskey or a light Speyside single malt beside a Connecticut Shade cigar, and our wine guide sets Champagne beside a mild one. More in the cigar and whiskey pairing guide.
