The Bandolero story

The name recalls the years 1717 to 1817, when Spain barred cigar making in its colonies and a bandolero smuggled leaf to roll it elsewhere, Cigar Coop reported. Selected Tobacco introduced Bandolero Premium at the PCA trade show in New Orleans in April 2025, reusing three size names from Bandolero's Selección Especial range, and United's release describes it as limited production without giving a number. It is a Selected Tobacco brand that United Cigars distributes, as halfwheel noted in a correction.

After rolling, the cigars are aged three years in humidors lined with five kinds of cedar, a cedar “cocktail” that United's release compares to bourbon taking flavor from the barrel; halfwheel and the release place that aging in Madrid, Spain. The release gives the blend as an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder, with Nicaraguan ligero and Peruvian filler, and calls the cigar medium to full-bodied; our distributor's sheet lists the binder as Peruvian. The cigars come in black lacquered boxes of 25, and Cigar Coop describes bands carrying the ring gauge and indigenous-style art, with a gold and pewter secondary band.
