Don Pepin Garcia Vegas Cubanas Invictos revives one of the first blends Pepín García rolled after leaving Cuba, discontinued and then brought back in 2017 at the family's Estelí factory. A classic Corojo rosado wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Estelí and Jalapa, grown on the family farms. The 5 inch by 50 robusto is full-bodied by the maker's account, with cedar, white pepper, cabinet spices and sweet wafer.
The Vegas Cubanas is the approachable side of the Pepín catalogue, spice with a sweet edge rather than a hard punch. At Sun of a Gun it pairs with a rye, a bourbon or a Speyside Scotch, and it is easy alongside an espresso. Offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 20.
