Firecracker Sun Grown Short Robusto is the 3 1/2 x 50 Firecracker in its sun-grown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the original regular version.

The Firecracker is a 3 1/2 x 50 cigar with a long, twisted fuse at the cap. The fuse is clipped off, not lit. David Garofalo, the owner of United Cigars, created it as an Independence Day exclusive for his Two Guys Smoke Shop in New Hampshire; the first was made by My Father Cigars. It has since appeared in many limited collaborations, and three regular versions, Sun Grown, Maduro and Connecticut, are made by José Dominguez at Tabacalera Magia Cubana in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Each version has its own blend and its own wooden box of 25, with an eagle on the lid label in red, white and blue for the Sun Grown, black and gold for the Maduro and green for the Connecticut.

The Sun Grown is the original regular Firecracker. United reblended it in 2021 with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Dominican Piloto Mejorado binder, and Dominican seco and ligero with Nicaraguan ligero in the filler; United's Oliver Nivaud says the ligero is aged. The same year it moved to natural-wood lacquered boxes of 25 with a lid that rests on the back of the box for display.

United has not published tasting notes for the three regular Firecrackers, and we have not found published reviews of them; Cigar Coop's Firecracker reviews cover the limited collaborations. The three differ in blend, starting with the wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano on the Sun Grown, Mexican San Andrés on the Maduro, Ecuadorian Connecticut shade on the Connecticut.

Do I light the Firecracker's fuse? No. The twisted fuse at the cap is clipped off, not lit; then light the foot as you would any cigar.
