The Firecracker is United Cigars' 3 1/2 x 50 with a long, twisted fuse at the cap. We carry all three regular versions, online and in our Yuma walk-in humidor: Sun Grown, Maduro and Connecticut, each made by José Dominguez at Tabacalera Magia Cubana in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and offered by the single, the five-pack or the box of 25.

The Firecracker story
David Garofalo, the owner of United Cigars, created the Firecracker as an Independence Day exclusive for his Two Guys Smoke Shop in New Hampshire; the first was made by My Father Cigars, based on the Don Pepin Original Blue Label, Cigar Coop reported. It has since appeared in many limited collaborations, among them Perdomo, Foundation, E.P. Carrillo, Micallef and J.C. Newman. The fuse is clipped off, not lit.
For the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, Arnold André made a limited Independence Day Firecracker for United in collectible tins; its blend continues, without the fuse, in our Independence line.

Three versions
The Sun Grown is the original regular Firecracker; United reblended it in 2021 and moved it to natural-wood lacquered boxes with a lid that rests on the back for display, and Oliver Nivaud of United says its ligero is aged. The Maduro is the revamped Black Bomb Firecracker, made regular production in September 2023; older boxes read “Black Bomb Firecracker.” The Connecticut arrived at the TPE trade show in January 2024 as the third regular version. United also pairs each version with five United Toros of the same wrapper in its HumiBag, made in Connecticut, Sun Grown and Maduro; online we offer the United Connecticut Toro HumiBag.
Common questions
Do I light the Firecracker's fuse? No. The twisted fuse at the cap is clipped off, not lit; then light the foot as you would any cigar.
Who makes the Firecracker? The regular Sun Grown, Maduro and Connecticut Firecrackers are made by José Dominguez at Tabacalera Magia Cubana in Santiago, Dominican Republic, for United Cigars of Hudson, New Hampshire.
How do the three Firecrackers differ? By blend, starting with the wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano on the Sun Grown, Mexican San Andrés on the Maduro and Ecuadorian Connecticut shade on the Connecticut. The size, 3 1/2 x 50, is the same.
How strong is the Firecracker? United has not published a strength rating or tasting notes for the three regular versions, and we have not found published reviews of them; Cigar Coop's Firecracker reviews cover the limited collaborations.
Is the Firecracker Maduro the Black Bomb? Yes. It is the revamped Black Bomb Firecracker of 2023, renamed Firecracker Maduro.
