Red Anchor Gunner Corona is the 6 1/2 x 43 corona in the Red Anchor line.
Red Anchor is a United Cigars brand made by Hendrik Kelner Jr. at Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic. The name goes back to 1772, when the Albertus Hillen cigar factory in Delft, Holland, created it; the brand stayed in the family until 1890, was later sold in tins, and closed in 1937. United calls it the first cigar brand in history. United revived Red Anchor in 2022 for its 250th anniversary with the Admiral, then added the Gunner, Captain and Commodore in 2023.
United's 2023 release gives the blend as an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper over a Dominican Monte Plata binder from the Kelner family farm, with Dominican San Vicente, Dominican Habano '92 and Pennsylvania tobacco in the filler. The cigars come 25 to a cream box with a red anchor on the lid and a sketch of Delft inside it.
The Gunner is the slimmest Red Anchor, a 6 1/2 x 43 corona. It shipped with the Captain in late August 2023, 25 to a box labeled “25 GUNNER 6½ X 43.”
