ACID 20 is Drew Estate's twentieth-anniversary ACID, which Drew Estate says honors the smokers who have backed ACID through its first twenty years: a toothy Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Indonesian binder and Nicaraguan filler, given ACID's botanical infusion and dressed in a chrome band. Twenty years of ACID
Drew Estate announced on August 27, 2019 that ACID 20 was shipping to retailers nationwide: a box-pressed robusto in chrome boxes of 24. "ACID 20 defines the next twenty years of the ACID legacy," founder Jonathan Drew said in that release. Drew Estate told halfwheel the blend was meant to make infused cigars more approachable for traditional smokers. A 6 x 50 Toro followed in June 2020, and in January 2022 Drew Estate added the Connecticut Toro, the same idea under a Connecticut Shade wrapper. Drew Estate keeps the infusion recipe inside La Gran Fabrica; every ACID line we carry is on our ACID page.
Two size notes. Drew Estate's 2019 release gave the original Robusto as 5 x 52, and its current size chart, like our listing, gives 5 x 50. For the Connecticut Toro, Drew Estate's current site lists 6 x 50, while its January 2022 announcement and halfwheel's review gave 6 x 54.

Ratings and tasting notes
Maduro Toro, 6 x 50: halfwheel scored it 86 in August 2020, finding cloves, orange peel, cinnamon, creamy peanuts and cocoa in the first third, then brewed sweet tea and cedar, and finally roasted espresso beans and cocoa nibs with honey sweetness and black pepper; the infusion was strongest early. Cigar Coop scored it 87 in May 2021, tasting mocha that turned to straight coffee, with licorice and a white pepper that grew toward the end. Both put the strength between mild and medium.
Connecticut Toro: halfwheel scored it 86 in April 2022 and wrote that "the flavoring was entirely on the tip." With the sweetened cap on the lips the profile turns fruity and sweet; without it, the tobacco reads as cedar and oak with grain, oatmeal and a creamy finish, then lemon and a cereal note. The reviewer found the infusion lighter than an ACID Blondie's, at mild to mild-medium strength.

What to pour with ACID 20
Drew Estate suggests hibiscus iced tea or a glass of Madeira with ACID 20. From our bar, our house suggestion is an espresso or an aged rum with the Maduro, whose back half turns to coffee and cocoa, and an aged rum beside the Connecticut's cedar and cream. In the lounge you can ask the bar for a pour from the spirits menu.
Keeping them fresh
