For the estate weekend

Hosting a long weekend calls for a set that holds its own on the table. The Opus6 Travel Humidor carries six rare cigars and a book in its own travel humidor; the Fuente & Fire Collection pairs Opus X with God of Fire KKP, Don Carlos and Lost City; the Opus X Collector's Flight lines up five allocated Opus X. For a host gift, the Padrón Cigar of the Year sampler holds four Cigar of the Year winners. More by budget in our cigar gift guide.

The allocated shelf

Santa Ynez Valley wine and cigars

Our house suggestion: a peppery Santa Ynez Valley Syrah beside a Padrón 1964 Anniversary or a Liga Privada T52, and a creamy, milder cigar with Chardonnay. Our wine and cigar pairing guide has more.

A collector's shelf for the estate humidor

A home humidor in Montecito or Hope Ranch deserves cigars with a story. Five we would put on the top shelf:

Padrón Family Reserve No. 44 Torpedo Family Reserve is made from tobacco aged ten years, and every band is individually numbered $39.99 a single; $330 for 10 (Maduro)
Opus X Oro Oscuro Double Robusto OpusX wrapper given extra ageing and fermentation $44.99 a single

Listed prices on 21 October 2026; each product page shows the current price and stock.

Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village: the everyday humidor

Not every evening calls for an allocated cigar. For a weeknight on the patio, our house picks from the regular shelf: the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Exclusivo ($17.99), the Liga Privada No. 9 Robusto ($18.99), the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art ($14.99), the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Robusto ($15.99) and the Diamond Crown Maximus Toro No. 4 ($18.99), from J.C. Newman, whose Diamond Crown designation our lounge holds. Most come as a single, a 5-pack or a box, and boxes often lower the price per cigar.

Finishing the cigar room

The OpusX Society El Blanco porcelain ashtray ($275.99), a Prometheus FL-Magma OpusX Rare Black lighter ($196.99) and a Colibri Heritage Cube desk cutter ($165) make a set that stays on the table, and cigar humidors and Boveda packs keep the collection in condition. Listed prices on 21 October 2026; each product page shows the current price and stock.

Opus X, from Chateau de la Fuente

Fuente Fuente OpusX began as Carlito Fuente's "Project X" in 1992, the first Dominican puro, with wrapper grown at Chateau de la Fuente in Bonao; it reached the market in November 1995. The range now runs from the original Fuente Fuente OpusX to Oro Oscuro, Angel's Share, Forbidden X and the Heaven and Earth releases. Our Opus X guide tells the full story.
