Why it is called Double Connecticut
Both Connecticut leaves are U.S.-grown, Cigar Coop reported. The Shade wrapper is grown under cloth and gives the cigar its pale, smooth face; the Broadleaf binder is the sun-grown, darker Connecticut leaf more often seen as a maduro wrapper. When the line shipped in September 2017, J.C. Newman said no other cigar then on sale paired a Connecticut Shade wrapper with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, halfwheel reported. It launched in six sizes, from the Robusto to the Churchill.
Brick House itself goes back to 1937, when Julius Newman introduced it and named it for the house he was born in, the only brick house in his small Hungarian village, as J.C. Newman tells it. Toro, 6 x 52: Cigar Coop scored it 89 in 2019, a "Buy Multiples," with cream, wood, pepper, citrus and cedar. halfwheel's November 2017 review found leather, milk chocolate, creamy peanuts and cedar, then creamy hay with a faint lemongrass note, white pepper on the retrohale and a touch of honey. Strength stayed between mild and medium, and smoking time averaged 1 hour 23 minutes.
