About Davidoff Cigarillos & Primeros

The Davidoff cigarillo and Primeros range

Blend details come from our product page for each tin. Where a cell shows a dash, our product page does not state it.

Davidoff Mini Cigarillos: Gold or Silver?

Davidoff makes its Mini Cigarillos in two blends on the same framework: an Indonesian Sumatra wrapper, a Java binder, and a filler that includes Brazilian and Indonesian tobacco. The Silver is blended with a higher share of lighter tobaccos, which makes it the milder of the two. Both come twenty to a tin: Mini Gold for the fuller of the pair, Mini Silver for the gentler one.

The Club Cigarillos are a slim cigarillo from the same family, made in the Dominican Republic with a Sumatra wrapper and a filler that includes Indonesian and Brazilian tobacco, ten to a tin.

Davidoff Primeros

Primeros is Davidoff's petit panatela range: 4⅛ x 34, six cigars to a tin. In July 2014 Davidoff relaunched it under the theme "Fifteen Minutes of Adventure," renaming the original blend Primeros Dominican, with new bands and packaging and the blend itself unchanged, and adding Primeros Nicaragua. Each blend also comes in a Maduro version. Davidoff describes every Primeros as handmade from 100% tobacco.

• Primeros Dominican: the original blend, an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper over all-Dominican tobacco.
• Primeros Dominican Maduro: the same Dominican base under an Ecuador maduro wrapper; our product page rates it medium.
• Primeros Nicaragua: a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan leaf from Estelí, Ometepe and Jalapa, in packaging styled after Davidoff's Nicaragua line.
• Primeros Nicaragua Maduro: the Nicaragua blend finished in a maduro wrapper.

The full-size Nicaraguan cigars are on Davidoff Nicaragua.

Choosing a Davidoff tin

• The milder Mini: the Mini Cigarillos Silver, blended with more of the lighter tobaccos.
• The lowest price per piece: the Mini Cigarillos Gold or Silver, about $1.60 each in a tin of 20.
• A small handmade cigar: a Primeros tin. Start with the Primeros Dominican under the Connecticut wrapper, or the Primeros Nicaragua for Nicaraguan leaf.
• A darker wrapper: the Primeros Dominican Maduro or Primeros Nicaragua Maduro.
• A thicker ring: the 4 x 38 Petit Panetela tins and the 4½ x 46 Belicoso tin of 4 on Davidoff Winston Churchill.

What to pour with a Davidoff cigarillo

Our house suggestion with a Primeros tin is a coffee or espresso. For a whiskey, our cigar and whiskey pairing guide keeps a simple house rule: mild with mild, medium with medium, full with full. With the Mini Silver, the milder Mini blend, that points to a lighter pour; with the Primeros Dominican Maduro, which our product page rates medium, to a medium one. In the lounge, ask the bar for a pour from the spirits menu.

Keeping a tin fresh

Once a tin is open, keep it at a steady 65 to 70 percent relative humidity, in a humidor or a sealed bag with a two-way humidity pack. Every order ships with a Boveda humidity pack, and our cigar storage guide covers the rest.
