The darker Isla del Sol
Isla del Sol has two blends that share an Indonesian binder and Indonesian and Nicaraguan filler. The Sun Grown, which Drew Estate calls its original Isla del Sol, wears Sun-Grown Sumatra and is smooth and exotic, with coffee and sweetness. The Maduro's Mexican San Andrés leaf is fermented darker, and Drew Estate says it adds a rich, dark chocolate character; it pictures the Sun Grown with a Sunday morning and the Maduro in the late afternoon. Drew Estate traces the brand to its collaboration with Kahlúa decades ago and says it co-created Isla del Sol with Tommy Sullivan; it has paired coffee and cigars since 2002. Mandheling is a trade name for Arabica coffee from northern Sumatra, in Indonesia, known for a heavy body, low acidity and an earthy, chocolate-leaning flavor.

Tasting notes
Gran Corona, 5 x 44: halfwheel's review found a syrupy sweet tip, then coffee grounds with pepper, wood and leather, and later damp earth and black pepper.
Drew Estate tags the Maduro rich, smooth and chocolatey. Cigar Aficionado doesn't score flavored cigars like these: in its "Cigar Truths" feature (November/December 2013) it says, "We do not rate flavored cigars or any type of machine-made cigar."
