Rocky Patel says the Vintage 1999 "showcases the oldest Connecticut shade-grown wrapper on the market" and puts the line in its mild category. Patel introduced it at the RTDA trade show in July 2006 with a shade-grown Connecticut wrapper aged seven years, and Cigar Aficionado's ratings list a Nicaraguan binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, made in Honduras.

About Rocky Patel Vintage 1999
Unlike the earlier Vintage releases, the 1999 is round rather than box-pressed: Cigar Aficionado reported in 2006 that Patel kept it round because the thin shade wrapper is fragile. Patel described the new cigar to the magazine as elegant and mild. It sits beside the Vintage 1990 and Vintage 1992 in our humidor.
