New World was AJ Fernandez's first collaboration with his father, Ismael, and the name is a nod to the introduction of tobacco to Europeans by the indigenous people of the New World in 1492. The original blend, now called New World Oscuro, debuted at the IPCPR trade show in July 2014. Cigar Coop counts six New World blends: Oscuro, Connecticut, Puro Especial, Cameroon, Dorado and Decenio. We carry four of them.

What to pour with New World
We found no pairing published by AJ Fernandez, so these are our house suggestions: a smooth Irish whiskey with the Connecticut; a caramel-forward bourbon or a rye with the Puro Especial and the Dorado (our whiskey guide pairs a sweet, caramel-forward bourbon with a peppery Nicaraguan cigar); and a rye Manhattan or a cask-strength bourbon with the Decenio. More in the bourbon and cigar pairing guide.
