The Natural and Maduro wrappers come from Cigar Aficionado's ratings. Fuente lists the Churchill at 7¼ x 48 with Natural, Maduro and D'Oro among its wrappers, and offers D'Oro on only three Gran Reserva sizes: the Corona Imperial, the Selección Privada No. 1 and the Churchill. We found no rating of the Churchill D'Oro; Cigar Aficionado's August 2026 rating of the Selección Privada No. 1 D'Oro lists a Connecticut Shade wrapper.

Ratings and tasting notes

Maduro: Cigar Aficionado scored it 93 in October 2025 and rated it medium: refined, sweet and rich without feeling heavy, with caramel and vanilla, a marzipan-like nuttiness and a praline finish. The magazine had scored this Churchill 90 in 2017, for its dark chocolate and licorice.

Natural: 89 in April 2017: a slim, squarely pressed cigar that opens with dried berries, gingersnap and cocoa and finishes faintly nutty.

Selección d'Oro: we found no published rating of this wrapper in the Churchill size.

Fuente calls Gran Reserva the flagship of the Arturo Fuente brand, and says only the highest quality vintage tobaccos and hand workmanship go into its cigars. Fuente's list runs to nine sizes, from the 4½ x 50 Rothschild to the 8½ x 52 Cañones, and includes the Flor Fina 8-5-8, which Fuente created in 1975 in memory of founder Arturo Fuente. The company began in West Tampa in 1912, and in 1980 the family opened its factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic; Cigar Aficionado's 2024 tour of Tabacalera A. Fuente publishes no pairing for Gran Reserva, so these are our house suggestions, drawn from our Gran Reserva page: a smooth Irish whiskey or a 90-proof wheated bourbon with the Natural, and a sherry-cask Scotch such as the Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak, or an aged rum, with the Maduro.
