What fire-curing gives the leaf
Drew Estate says the Kentucky leaf in this line is smoked for 14 days over fires of hardwoods such as oak, maple and hickory, and that Kentucky farmers have fire-cured tobacco this way for more than 200 years; Jonathan Drew Sann learned the method on a tobacco selection trip to Kentucky. The smoke reaches the leaf itself, which is where the hardwood aroma comes from. Drew Estate describes a smoky, woodsy core layered with sweetness.
Sweets or the original
Kentucky Fire Cured began as an extension of My Uzi Weighs a Ton, announced in April 2013; the first three sizes reached stores that December. The original wears a double wrapper, fire-cured tapa negra at the head and Mexican San Andrés at the foot, and Drew Estate rates it medium, with hickory, oak and maple; Jonathan Drew compared its taste to a "peaty scotch." Sweets, presented in July 2018, uses a single San Andrés wrapper with a sweetened cap over the same Ecuador Connecticut Shade binder and fire-cured filler, which Drew Estate says adds a smoother, mellower dimension to the family. Both blends, and the seasonal Flying Pig, are compared on our Kentucky Fire Cured page.

Choosing a Sweets size
- The short one: the Chunky, 4 x 46, from $7.99 a single.
- The widest: the Fat Molly, 5 x 56, the widest of the Sweets sizes Drew Estate lists.
- The longest: Just a Friend, the 6 x 52 toro.
A wider ring holds more filler, so the Fat Molly carries more of the fire-cured leaf in each puff; in the slimmer Chunky the wrapper has a larger share. More sweet-tipped and dessert-flavored cigars are on sweet cigars, infused lines on flavored and infused cigars, and gentler smokes from every brand on mild cigars.
What to pour with Kentucky Fire Cured Sweets
Drew Estate suggests an espresso macchiato or a peated Highland single malt Scotch with Sweets; peat smoke meets fire-cured smoke. Our house suggestion from the bar, as on our Kentucky Fire Cured page: a 90-proof wheated bourbon, whose softer, sweeter profile sits beside the maple and barbecue notes. The Scotch and cigar pairing guide and the bourbon and cigar pairing guide have more, and in the lounge you can ask the bar for a pour from the spirits menu.
Keeping them fresh
Fire-cured tobacco carries its smoky aroma, so keep Sweets in its own box or humidor drawer, away from other cigars, at a steady 65 to 70 percent relative humidity. Every order ships with a Boveda humidity pack, and our cigar storage guide covers the rest.
