Montes Purple Angel 2021 is a Carmenère-based red from Viña Montes in Chile's Colchagua Valley. The 2021 vintage is 92 percent Carmenère and 8 percent Petit Verdot, grown on the estates at Apalta and Marchigüe. The grapes were picked by hand, and 70 percent of the wine aged 16 to 18 months in new French oak barrels, with the rest in older barrels.

Montes describes intense, elegant aromas dominated by ripe blueberry and blackberry, with a characteristic fig note and sweet tones of chocolate, vanilla and nutmeg from the oak. The winery calls the palate complete, balanced and smooth, with a vibrant sensation that lasts.
