La Gloria Cubana Cigars: A Guide to Serie R, Serie R Estelí and Serie S

La Gloria Cubana Serie R, Serie R Estelí, Serie R Black and Serie S explained, with the La Gloria Cubana cigars we ship from our Yuma, Arizona humidor.

La Gloria Cubana was born in Miami's Little Havana, and its El Credito factory, now in the Dominican Republic, still rolls the brand. It is known for big ring gauges and full-flavored blends, from the classic Serie R to all-Nicaraguan cigars such as Serie R Estelí and Serie R Black. At Sun of a Gun Cigars in Yuma, AZ, we carry La Gloria Cubana for in-store purchase and nationwide online shipping.

The La Gloria Cubana Story

La Gloria Cubana's roots are in Miami's Little Havana, where the El Credito factory made its name. The factory has since moved to the Dominican Republic, and La Gloria Cubana says its artisans there come from rural Dominican communities where cigar-making is passed down from generation to generation.

La Gloria Cubana Cigar Lines

La Gloria Cubana Serie R

Serie R is the line built on big ring gauges. A proprietary blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler sits in a Nicaraguan binder under an aged Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper; the Maduro version wears Connecticut Broadleaf. La Gloria Cubana describes a medium-to-full smoke with coffee, chocolate and spice. Sizes run from the No. 4 (4⅞ x 52) and No. 5 (5½ x 54) to the No. 6 (5⅞ x 60), No. 7 (7 x 58) and No. 8 (7 x 70).

La Gloria Cubana Serie R Estelí

The floral, nutty counterpart to the Serie R: a full-flavored Nicaraguan puro blended from ligero and viso leaves grown on several Nicaraguan farms, under a thick, oily Jalapa Sol wrapper. Medium to full, with spice and coffee, in the No. 54 (6 x 54), No. 60 (6 x 60) and No. 64 (6¼ x 64). Cigar Aficionado named it to its Top 25 cigars of 2014.

La Gloria Cubana Serie R Black

An all-Nicaraguan blend: a Jalapa ligero wrapper and Jalapa binder over Jalapa and Estelí filler, with the Jalapa leaf fermented for a full year and aged two and a half years. La Gloria Cubana describes a rich, medium-to-full smoke with spice and coffee and a nutty, floral character.

La Gloria Cubana Serie S

Serie S brings La Gloria Cubana's big ring gauges to a Mexican San Andrés wrapper for the first time, over a Nicaraguan Estelí binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. Medium to full, with subtle earthiness, mild sweetness and a touch of spice, in the Robusto Gordo (5½ x 56), Gigante (6 x 60) and Presidente (7 x 56).

The collection also includes Medio Tiempo, named for the rare medio tiempo leaves that grow above the highest priming of a sun-grown Connecticut Havano plant, and the box-pressed Spanish Press, a medium-bodied, Nicaraguan-forward blend.
