Escurio is Davidoff's Brazil-inspired Black Band line, revealed in Miami in June 2015 (Cigar Aficionado), with Brazilian leaf in the binder and filler under an Ecuador Habano wrapper. Sources differ on the Dominican filler: halfwheel names Olor and San Vicente, and Cigar Aficionado lists San Vicente, Piloto and hybrid Olor-Piloto. Davidoff has described the Brazilian tobaccos as spicy, set against creamier Dominican leaf. Cigar Coop says the name joins escuro, Portuguese for dark, with Rio, for Rio de Janeiro.
Escurio was the second Black Band line after Davidoff Nicaragua and launched in three sizes: the 3¼ x 50 Petit Robusto, the 4½ x 54 Robusto and the 5½ x 58 Gran Toro (halfwheel). Cigar Aficionado reports that Black Band cigars are billed as more powerful than Davidoff's White Band.

Ratings and tasting notes
Gran Toro: Cigar Aficionado scored it 89 in December 2015 and rated it medium; halfwheel scored it 86. Davidoff says the Gran Toro has the second-largest ring gauge in Escurio and delivers slightly more intensity. halfwheel found the Brazilian leaf sweet and spicy and the Dominican leaf woody and slightly salty, with pepper that grew in the final third; its samples averaged about an hour and a half.
Robusto Tubo: Davidoff describes "a taste experience of medium intensity," with "notes of oak wood, dark chocolate and fresh pepper." Cigar Coop scored the 4½ x 54 Robusto 93 in July 2015 and ranked it No. 14 on its 2015 Cigar of the Year countdown.

What to pour with Davidoff Escurio
Our house suggestion from the bar is an aged rum with Escurio.
